xx The Talk

February 01, 2015, 01:52:02 PM by Runic
 It started with a whisper,
 A feeling, a glance,
I asked her if she had any sisters,
While I stood next to a fan.
I smiled as she said no,
 The ice was finally broken,
Step one of my master plan.
Step two was a bit harder.
Didn’t know if she felt the same,
Invited us for a few drinks,
 Just her and her friends.
She smiled as she saw me,
Sit next to her was her demand,
Tickling each other, and immature acts.
Didn’t hit me till the end.

She had left, home time for her.
I stayed put with her friends,
 When the grilling began,
 I saw my own end.
 Step two is finished,
 The grilling was enough,
 Wow  this girl likes me.
The friends pretty much confirmed it.
Step three is about to begin.
Now this is my Achilles heal,
Telling a girl how I feel,
I went with a sly approach,
Mentioned about a girl I like in my blog.
I text her “did you read my blog”
“Yeh and who is the girl” was the reply
“I don’t want to say as you know her”
 “Oh tell me”
“Hypothetically what would you say if I said it was you”
“I would say we need to talk”
I smiled as I realized what she was saying,
A few minutes passed I responded
 “then we need to talk”

It’s interesting to look back on this,
 Surreal in a way,
 But what really gets me,
We never did ever have the talk.

Glasgow 2014

Glasgow 2014 - XX Commonwealth Games

  • In March 2014, I applied to appear in the XX Commonwealth Games that were being held in Glasgow, an audition was held in April and in May I was accepted to be part of the 900 strong dance group that would dance alongside names such as Kylie Minogue, Lulu, Prides and Deacon Blue in the closing ceremony. I was also privileged to be chosen as a Flag Escort in the ceremony representing not only Scotland but Turks and Caicos Islands standing alongside their chosen Flag Bearer then receiving their flag to perform in the handover ceremony for the Gold Coast 2018, performing a routine on stage with the beautiful and talented Jessica Mauboy. The experience was amazing and has since encouraged me to take more opportunities such as this.

  • The experience was not only unforgettable but it was one of a kind. Not only meeting some amazing people and making many new friends but learning routines under the watchful eye of Emily Jane Boyle (Sunshine on Leith) and Mark Murphy (Turku City of Culture Opening Ceremony). But also the most amazing dance captains Pauline Joseph (Urbaniks) and Skye Reynolds (Freelance). I would like to not only thank the above people but also my amazing family of Hillhead 1 and the friends I made during my time as a dancer.
