Looking Through The Mesh

One thing that I have done over the last few weeks is not only show double standards within key people but also on how SMF can be improved.  I have looked at the core values been broken by individuals, but what about as a team, do you think even the team as a whole follow the core values the team is built on?

Well for the most part yes they do, but one gets overlooked all the time, and that is the core value “Respect and Fairness”, and here is what the site says:

Respect and Fairness
We will treat others with consideration, high regard, courtesy and dignity; in a just, equitable and unbiased manner. We will demonstrate good manners, pay attention and treat others as we would like to be treated. We will be consistent, listen and be open to feedback, be careful making judgments about others, and treat people equally and equitably.

Various people will point out that the team have seldom shown respect and fairness to me after all they kicked me out for very poor reasons, however how about overlooking beneficial people just because who they are friends with.

I am sure you can think of people that you know would be beneficial to the team, but lets look at hadesflames, this guy has been overlooked for various positions as he is friends with ccbtimewiz, hadesflames also created an alternative account to see if that would help his chances, did it no, as the team realised who it was, and various started saying that even ccbtimewiz was using hadesflames account, yet they have no proof.

Aldo is a great coder, he is learning new stuff everyday, he has released some great mods, such as “Dream Menu” but will he ever get accepted again as a beta tester, will he ever get accepted onto team, no! As his friend is Chris.

I am not going to go into the story of ccbtimewiz, its been said many times, but is it fair to restrict an asset due to who he speaks to online, how is that showing “Respect and Fairness”, where is the respect and fairness in that.  Lets take a look at this core value:

We will treat others with consideration, high regard, courtesy and dignity; in a just, equitable and unbiased manner.

This is complete  rubbish, has Aldo ever been considered? yes, was it in high regard, courteous and dignified? no, was it in an equitable and unbiased manner? No and why not? as he was friends with Chris!

I will give credit a few of the team do show good manners, but I can think of a developer, 2 managers and 2 cus team members who don’t follow this, and if they treated others with respect why discriminate due to friendships?

Somehow I don’t think  I should need to answer this, as its clear as a book they don’t.
Remember this is not one or two individuals this is the majority of the team, and unless the team gets a radical change in thinking this core value will continue to be ignored!  So why keep it, well it makes them look good to have this doesn’t it, public image and all that stuff, but when will they look out from under the mesh that is obscuring there view? When will they see the truth?

Simple they wont?
